The hound of the Baskervilles

About this book

A classic detective novel with horror elements set in Victorian England presents a carefully constructed mystery featuring Sherlock Holmes and his assistant, Dr. Watson. Doyle's most famous detective story tells of mysterious deaths on a rural estate in a gloomy heather-covered landscape, which the famous Sherlock Holmes comes to solve with his friend and assistant, Dr. Watson. Behind the seemingly supernatural actions of a killer dog that cannot be caught, there lies, as Holmes ultimately proves, uncontrollable human greed and malice. The unique depiction of the atmosphere of mystery and horror from events that seem to defy human understanding, in this most famous English detective novel, stems from the principles of the Gothic novel.
