English version of twelve tales by a well-known exiled writer, accompanied by the author's own illustrations. Křesadlo's tales are written in free verse and bring stories in which the author uses characteristic features of his work. Here too, he applies, although on a small scale, a sense of fantastical events and grotesque or comic situations, which allow him to point out the pettiness and malice, arrogance and often even the foolishness of human behavior. For Křesadlo, the fable becomes an ideal tool to capture human negative qualities in a satirical tone or mock them with an ironic attitude.
